Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode on Monday said the government would no longer tolerate flouting of building regulations in the state.
He also stated that there was the need for additional 187, 500 new houses in the next five years to reduce the housing deficit estimated at 2.5 million in the state.
The state governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Oluranti Adebule, said this at the 2016 World Habitat Day organised by the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development with the theme, ‘Housing at the Centre’.
Ambode said his administration is focused on resolving the confidence in the building control and supervision process, adding that the challenge of housing deficit and the issue of safety concerns in the building sector was top priority.
